Day of Recollection
March 21, 2015
8:30am - 1:00pm
"A retreat should renew the faith of participants, transforming their ministry and their relationships with others. Those who live a retreat in an authentic way, experience the attraction and fascination of God and return renewed and transfigured in their daily lives, their ministry and their relationships."
All are invited to spend a day with the Lord and renew all aspects of their lives including your relationship with God. The day will begin with mass at the Abbey Church followed by the retreat in the beautiful and relaxing Decio Library at Marmion Academy. There will be time for discussion, reflection, meditation and confession. A light breakfast and lunch will be served along with refreshments.
This year's topic is:
The Three Paths of Discipleship:
"Finding the Center, Knowing that you are a sinner and your life is not about you"
This outline of Christian discipleship is used at Mundelein seminary for the formation of future priests. Fr. Brendan will explain that if a Christian walks these roads, he/she will discover freedom, peace and joy.
This year's Speaker is:
Fr. Brendan Lupton was ordained a priest on May 21st, 2005. He then served as an associate pastor at St. John of the Cross parish in Western Springs. In 2009, he was sent to Catholic University of America to study the church fathers. His dissertation was on Gregory the Great and his use of Paul in his writings. Fr. Brendan is now an assistant professor in the department of Church history at Mundelein Seminary.
The Day of Recollection is sponsored by the Marmion Alumni Association in keeping with its mission. There is no cost for the retreat, however a free will offering is appreciated.
