Short-Term Freshmen English Teaching Position

              (Jan 5,2015-Feb 17, 2015)


This six-week maternity-leave position involves teaching three sections of English I and two sections of English I-Honors for a total of five classes. Working with the Department Chair and communicating with the teacher on leave, the instructor will prepare and execute lesson plans for Reading(literature), Writing, and Language (grammar/vocabulary) according to course curriculum map (see below). In conjunction with the teacher on leave, the instructor will be

responsible for grading homework, tests, and compositions, and uploading scores to online school grade book. 

3rd Quarter Curriculum Map

Reading-Literature:  Antigone, Romeo and Juliet

Reading-Informational: articles from Internet/ebook

Writing-Argumentative: Persuasive Essay; variety

(journal entries, reflections)    

Writing-Informational: variety (reviews, letters)  

Writing-Narrative: variety (journal entries,

reflections, poems)

Language:  Vocabulary Workbook, Phrases (chapter 17)

Speaking and Listening:  Oral Presentations, In-Class Readings



Undergraduate degree in English, English Language Arts, or Teaching English

Secondary Teaching Certificate preferable
