President's Volunteer Service Award
Marmion Academy senior Timothy Mason of Newark, IL has been honored for his exemplary volunteer service with a President’s Volunteer Service Award. This award, which recognizes Americans of all ages who have volunteered significant amounts of their time to serve their community and their country, was granted by The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program on behalf of Present Barack Obama. Lacrosse Team Works to Feed the Hungry
The Marmion Academy Lacrosse Team, along with coaches and family members, served together on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Feed My Starving Children in Aurora. A total of 84 players and adults worked tirelessly measuring and packaging food, labeling food packages, boxing, sealing, and carrying 134 boxes to the shipping room to deliver to children in need. Enough food was packaged to feed 80 children for ONE YEAR! This is an annual team-building service project for the Marmion Lacrosse Team.
Marmion Rosary Winter Concert
The Marmion-Rosary Band, Marmion-Rosary Jazz Ensemble and Marmion Men’s Chorus will present their Winter Concert on Wednesday, February 25 at 7:30 PM. The program will take place in Marmion Academy’s Alumni Hall Gymnasium Admission will only be through the East entry of the gym. Admission is free, with free-will donations accepted.
The Marmion-Rosary Band will feature works composed just after World War Two, with an emphasis on France and America. Also associated with this concert will be contributions from the Marmion Fine Arts Department under the direction if Lisa Dzuriscko and the French Language Department under the direction of Angela Vock. Art work of France will be displayed specific to each provence featured in the music in the concert. In addition, a sampling of French cheeses from each provence will be served to the audience.
