    Marmion/Rosary Band & Chorus Receive Class AA First Division Award in State IHSA Competition
    The Marmion-Rosary Wind Ensemble and Marmion Men’s Chorus received  a class AA first division award at the I.H.S.A. State Tournament held at Oak Lawn on April 12th 2014.  This division represents the largest of schools in Illinois.  All judges gave the Marmion-Rosary Band  first division scores.  The Marmion-Rosary Band received scores of 37.25, 37.25, and 36.9 with the highest score being 40 points.  The chorus received scores of 36.00 36.0 and 33.5 with the highest score being 40 points.  The Marmion-Rosary Wind Ensemble is directed by Stephen Thurlow and the Marmion Men’s Chorus is directed by Brian Birch.

    Dr. Holinger Receives Distinguished Service Award
    Dr. Richard Holinger, an accomplished author and English teacher at Marmion Academy, was presented with the Fr. Alcuin Deck Distinguished Service Award for the second semester of the 2013-2014 academic year on Tuesday, March 18. Upon receiving this award, Holinger recited an original poem he wrote for the occasion which began:

    From teacher newbies in their twenties, this “Thank you” might have been texted,
    However, from a wannabe Robert Frost, verse may be expected.
    I’m happier this morning than a newly resurrected soul
    To be receiving this “Distinguished” plaque from Chaplain Father Joel ...
