A Comedy by Jason Pizzarello and Patrick Greene

The curtain is up. The mystery is underway. The killer is about to be revealed… when suddenly, the play’s director is dead.

It’s opening night of A Spot of Murder, a brand-new mystery play, but when the body of demanding theatre director Sinclair Hemmings falls onstage, the performance quickly becomes a real-life crime scene. Enter Detective Drake, who must uncover the killer before anyone else becomes a victim.

The problem? Nearly everyone has a motive.

From actors and designers to playwrights, stage crew and even Sinclair’s own family, no one is above suspicion. As secrets are revealed and accusations fly, the line between the play and reality begins to blur—and even the audience becomes part of the investigation.

Fast-paced, theatrical and filled with twists, This Murder Was Staged is a hilarious backstage murder mystery that pokes fun at theatre, egos and the wonderfully dramatic people who make a production possible.

Everyone has a motive. Everyone is a suspect. And the murder may be the best performance of the night.
