Aurora, IL – Marmion Academy is pleased to announce that senior, Caleb Quitno, has been named a National Merit Semifinalist in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program. Quitno is the son of Dr. Chris and Shannon Quitno of Geneva.
Semifinalist status is based on scores on the 2025 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). The nationwide pool of approximately 16,000 Semifinalists are the highest scoring students in each state and represent less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors.
Quitno will continue in the competition for one of 6,700 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $24 million that will be offered next spring.
Quitno’s achievement reflects an incredible commitment to academic excellence. After earning one of the nation’s highest PSAT/NMSQT scores, he continued to raise the bar with a perfect 36 on the ACT. From his days at Holy Cross Catholic School in Batavia to his time as a Marmion Cadet, Caleb has worked hard, challenged himself and made the most of every opportunity.
