Artificial intelligence is reshaping our world. For students growing up in this moment, understanding the implications, opportunities and challenges of AI will be essential to their professional success.
To meet this moment, Marmion Academy is launching a new academic partnership with Northern Illinois University, bringing their college-level AI and cybersecurity curriculum to campus.
The program introduces students to the foundations of artificial intelligence and cybersecurity through hands-on, project-based work. Students learn how AI systems are built, how data and algorithms affect decisions, and what can go wrong when technology is used without enough care for privacy, security, or fairness.
“This partnership is another example of our commitment to stay ahead of the curve for our students,” said Principal Joseph Large. “We want them to leave Marmion prepared for the world they will face, with the tools and perspective they need to succeed.”
Marmion will serve as a pilot site for the program, working closely with NIU researchers to test lessons and make adjustments along the way. Teachers will play an active role in shaping how the curriculum works in the classroom.
The experience includes six instructional modules and concludes with a capstone project in which students design a simple AI system that takes security and responsibility seriously.
As Marmion prepares for its next chapter, partnerships like this one reflect a focus on steady growth, strong academics, and preparing students for life beyond the classroom.
