Junior High Math Team Contest
The Marmion Academy Mathematics Department would like to invite your school to participate in our 24th Annual Junior High Mathematics Contest. We hope to enhance your program by providing your math enthusiasts with an opportunity to be challenged by competing against students from other local schools.
Schools can register one or two 5-person teams. The teams can be made up of students from any grade level (5-8), but there can no more than three 8th graders on each team. Both boys and girls are welcome to compete.
The contest will consist of an individual written portion consisting of 20 questions to be completed in 30 minutes. Calculators will be allowed. Each problem will be worth 1 point. The top 4 scores for each team will be counted towards the final team score.
The 5-person team portion will consist of 20 questions to be completed in 30 minutes. NO CALCULATORS will be allowed on this portion of the contest. Each problem will be worth 3 points. The 5-person team score will be combined with the individual scores to form the final team score.
We will be dividing the participating schools into two divisions based on school size. If your school has less than 250 7th and 8th graders enrolled, then your school will be placed in Division I. If the total number of 7th and 8th graders in your school is 250 or more, then you will compete in Division 2. Awards will be given to the top scorers in each event and division. There will be no ties; tie-breaker questions are included.
After submitting the entry form below, you will receive a confirmation email with the link to the roster form for your team(s). There will be a registration fee of $25.00 per team, which can be paid with credit card directly through this site or you may pay by mailing a check to:
